A 12-years old boy discovered he can imitate birds. He's taking his talents on the road.
People go viral for no good reason. Samuel Henderson is not one of them.
Diagnosed with autism and Tourette syndrome, Henderson first wowed classmates at a school talent show by joyfully imitating birds. He’s so convincing you might mistake him for one.
His fascination began at age 3. At a zoo, he discovered he could “talk” to a great-tailed grackle. Since then, he’s sharpened his calls with the Merlin Bird ID app, YouTube, nature shows and plenty of outdoor birding.
Henderson hopes to become an ornithologist and pursue voice acting. Someone should tell him LSU has one of the nation's top ornithology programs.
He’s now such an internet sensation that he appears at events. Audubon Society or Burden Center gala, perhaps? Until then, catch him Oct. 8 at the Birding Festival of the South in Hot Springs, Arkansas.
