Strike a pose

NFL Flag is coming to Baton Rouge. It's accessible to kids who just want to play.

Former LSU Tiger Jayden Daniels learned how to weave and dodge while playing flag football. Now, Baton Rouge kids will get their shot at striking the Heisman pose.

A mix of local and national partners is teaming up with BREC to expand flag football across the parish, and they’re going big.

More than 20 million people play flag football worldwide, according to the NFL. Plenty of Baton Rouge kids already play, but the sport is about to get a serious boost here, thanks to a roster of partners big enough to field their own team. They include NFL Flag, PAL of South Louisiana, FMOL Health, local law enforcement agencies, BREC and the Louisiana Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice Foundation.

The league is designed to be accessible. Parents won’t need fat wallets, and kids won’t need prior experience. There are no tryouts, the divisions are age-appropriate and the games are non-contact.

BREC will also host games on fields across the parish, making it easier for families to find one close to home.

And forget about super teams. Coaches can’t register kids as a pre-built squad. NFL Flag assigns teams, keeping things fair and giving everyone a chance to play.

They might even make a few new friends. That’s a perk.

Registration is open now, with the season set to begin in January and conclude in early March.
