Cooler weather is on the way, bringing the perfect excuse to get outside for a run—or a leisurely walk while taking in the scenery.

Running is one of the best exercises for cardiovascular health. It’s also relatively inexpensive, requires minimal equipment and takes little skill to begin. You’ve been doing it since you were a toddler.

Joining a group makes every mile more enjoyable. You’ll have someone to chat with along the route, get pushed to move faster, and have runners ready to share a cold drink afterward.

Run Krewe is one of downtown’s newest groups combining exercise with socializing. Meet the group Wednesdays at The Main Lobby in the 600 block of Main Street. The meetup begins at 6 p.m., and runners and walkers head out at 6:30 p.m.

Stick around afterward—you could leave with more than 100 new friends.
