- Description: The City-Brooks Park master plan, the golf course, the conservancy—BREC hears it all tonight.

It's the public's turn this evening as BREC hosts an [open mic night](https://www.brec.org/news/continuetheconversation?ref=redeyebr.com) on the City-Brooks Park master plan.

**Why it matters:** The floor is yours tonight, Baton Rouge—for two minutes, anyway—to share feedback and thoughts on the master plan, the 9-hole golf course and a proposed conservancy.

**The details:**
📆: July 14, this evening.
📍: Independence Park Theater, 7800 Independence Boulevard.
⏰: 5:30-7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 5 p.m.
📝: Sign in for a two-minute slot and a seat number—name and address required. Skip the mic and your card gets read aloud instead.

- Asked for clarity on what might be done to prevent any single group from dominating the conversation and to ensure a cross-section of voices is heard, Robyn Lott, BREC's director of communications, told *RedEye* late Monday evening that "a few options are being discussed to help with that potential scenario," but no plans are confirmed.
- Can't attend? BREC is [livestreaming](https://www.brec.org/lakesvision?ref=redeyebr.com) and recording the meeting.

**The panel:** Sasaki won't be at the table this time, leaving BREC's own to carry the night. Scheduled to be there:

- Janet Simmons, interim superintendent—at least for the rest of the month.
- Mike Polito, BREC commission chair.
- Lon Vicknair, chief of staff for the Edwards administration and the mayor's commission appointee.
- Angela Harms, the planning and engineering director overseeing the master plan process.
- Mike Raby, director of golf.

**Polito's radar:** He's been BREC's most public voice online, sparring in the replies with Friends of City Park—don't be shocked if he shows up with a few questions of his own.

**Franklin's test:** Perry Franklin, of Franklin Associates, will moderate, meaning it's his job to prevent a repeat of the verbal hostilities that broke out during last month's meeting at the McKinley Alumni Center.

**Young and the restless:** Will young professionals, lacking the same early-evening schedule flexibility as the older residents who have packed previous meetings, show up, or will they opt for livestream viewing?

**The bottom line:** This is what the public has been demanding. We'll find out if anything productive comes of it.

***Update: BREC sent the following information late Tuesday morning:***

**Updates on tonight's meeting format:**

1. All attendees will be asked to sign in upon arrival.
2. Individuals who wish to ask questions at the mic will be called in an organized sequence, with a digital speaker queue displayed throughout the meeting.
3. Those who prefer not to speak can submit written comments using comment cards available at a designated table.
4. A reserved area will be available for members of the media, and any organized groups, that may share information and literature.
