Watching LSU host Alabama beneath the lights of Tiger Stadium is among college football’s grander spectacles. It is also, for ticket resellers and StubHub, an exercise in wealth extraction.

As of yesterday, the highest asking price for November’s clash—the rivals’ final regular-season meeting—was $2,367 for a seat in the Stadium Club. A pair would cost $4,734, enough to buy a 75-inch Sony BRAVIA 9, a season’s supply of chicken wings and a modest sofa from which to insist that every penalty favors Alabama, certainly on orders from the Southeastern Conference’s shadowy headquarters in Birmingham.

By comparison, entertaining ten people at a Super Bowl party cost just $120-150 this year, [according to Kiplinger](https://www.kiplinger.com/personal-finance/how-much-it-costs-to-host-a-super-bowl-party?ref=redeyebr.com). At home, the queue for the bathroom is shorter, the beer cheaper, and there is no traffic between the living room and the bedroom.

Those unwilling to liquidate a minor asset can still enter Death Valley for $280 on StubHub. The seats are near the summit of the East Upper Deck, where the sun is punishing during the day and the players look like determined ants.
