Letlow has the smart money fidgeting
She has a big lead over Cassidy, Fleming on Polymarket
The money with an internet connection is leaning toward Julia Letlow in Louisiana’s Republican Senate primary. Bettors have her well ahead of Sen. Bill Cassidy and state Treasurer John Fleming.
The numbers: On Polymarket, Letlow was trading at 63 cents on Friday, implying a 63% chance of winning. Cassidy was at 18 cents. Fleming was at 20. A bit more than $44,000 has been wagered on the race.
Storm Clouds: Cassidy appears to know he is trailing. Last Friday, he challenged Letlow to a one-on-one debate. An incumbent who feels secure does not demand debates.
One caveat: Polymarket and Kalshi insist they are financial products, though both businesses let people wager on politics, sports and world events. Kalshi is federally regulated, and the Trump administration has backed both platforms in fights over whether states can shut them down.
Reality check: Prediction markets are live readings of trader sentiment — which is precisely why their predictive accuracy tends to exceed what simple statistical models would suggest.
The bottom line: On Polymarket, this is Letlow’s race to lose. Cassidy and Fleming are still breathing. At the moment, though, they are trading more like suspense than momentum.
