# Back off beaver; hello Dolly

Move over Buc-ee's, Dolly Parton is taking her "9-to-5" goodness to an interstate stop near you.

**Why it matters:** East Baton Rouge whiffed on Buc-ee's. Dolly's expanding road-stop empire—already pouring Baton Rouge-brewed Community Coffee—means our [second shot](https://www.redeyebr.com/dolly-parton-is-coming-for-the-interstate/) at interstate glory might not need a single bathroom queue in Texas.

**The buzz:** A *Washington Post* reporter spent [two days](https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2026/07/26/inside-dolly-parton-big-sparkly-new-rest-stop-tennessee/?ref=redeyebr.com) holed up at Dolly's Tennessean Travel Stop in Cornersville, Tennessee, and emerged with a verdict Baton Rouge should care about: the beaver has company.

- A 25,000-square-foot building holds a restaurant, ice cream shop, barbecue counter, trucker's lounge and live music stage.
- The dog park is called Doggy Parton. Obviously.
- EV chargers, showers and a coin laundromat round out the truck-stop side.
- Buc-ee's still wins on price and restrooms, according to three Knoxville women who toured both. Dolly's takes decor, pet perks and seating by a mile.

**Our cup:** Every visitor gets a taste of home. Dolly's Cup of Ambition coffee line comes from [Community Coffee](https://www.redeyebr.com/working-9-to-5-dollys-got-community-coffee/), the Baton Rouge company that signed on in June.

**The bottom line:** Buc-ee's built a cult on brisket and clean toilets. Dolly's is betting glitter, gospel murals and a hometown coffee brand can build a bigger one—and Baton Rouge wants a seat at the counter.
